Luis Enrique Ruiz ("we", "us", or "our") built Mortigen as a free-to-play mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and your choices regarding that information.
Information We Collect
Locally Stored Data
Mortigen stores gameplay progress on your device using local storage (SharedPreferences). This data never leaves your device and includes:
- High score, best survival time, and highest level reached
- Total enemies killed, frozen, and electrified across sessions
- Trophy unlock states
- Audio settings such as music and SFX state or volume
- In-app purchase entitlements or related preferences, if those features are available
- First-launch flag
This data is not transmitted to any server and cannot be accessed by us.
Leaderboard Data (Firebase)
Mortigen includes an optional online leaderboard powered by Google Firebase. When you complete a run, the app may submit your score to the leaderboard. The following data is sent to and stored in Google Cloud Firestore:
- A player-chosen alias (up to 16 characters)
- Gameplay stats for the run: score, enemies killed, level reached, and survival time
- A Firebase anonymous user identifier (UID) generated automatically by Firebase Authentication
- A timestamp of when the entry was created
Firebase Anonymous Authentication creates a persistent identifier tied to your device installation. It does not collect your name, email, or any other personal information. Leaderboard entries are publicly visible to all players. Data is stored on Google Cloud servers and processed under Firebase's privacy documentation .
Third-Party Services
Mortigen integrates third-party platform services that may collect data independently:
- Google AdMob for rewarded video ads on Android and iOS. Depending on your region and privacy choices, Google may serve personalized, non-personalized, or limited ads. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect or access data such as IP address and general location inferred from IP, device and advertising identifiers, ads viewed, ad interactions such as taps or rewarded video views, and diagnostic or performance data such as app launch time, hang rate, or energy usage. Where applicable, those choices are handled through Google's consent flow and the in-app privacy options. See Google's Privacy Policy .
- Google Play Billing / Apple In-App Purchase may be used if optional in-app purchases are offered in the app. Purchase transactions are handled by Google or Apple, which may process billing details, purchase history, and transaction identifiers under their own policies. We do not receive or store payment card details.
- Google Play Services / Apple Game Services as part of normal platform operation on Android and iOS.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect personal information such as real name or email. The leaderboard alias is freely chosen and does not need to be a real name.
- We do not directly collect precise location data. AdMob may infer general location from IP address as described above.
- We do not require account creation or login. Firebase Anonymous Authentication operates automatically without user credentials.
- We do not use analytics SDKs in the current documented setup.
Your Rights Under the GDPR
As a user in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679:
- Right of access. Local gameplay data is stored on your device. Leaderboard entries stored in Firebase contain only your chosen alias, run stats, and an anonymous UID. You may contact us to request a copy of your leaderboard data.
- Right to erasure. You can delete local game data by clearing app data or uninstalling. To request deletion of your leaderboard entries from Firebase, contact us using the details below.
- Right to restriction and objection. You can review or change your advertising choices through the in-app privacy options, and you may also use your device's ad personalization settings where available.
- Right to lodge a complaint. You may file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency at www.aepd.es or with another EU supervisory authority.
Where third-party services such as Google AdMob process personal data, the legal basis is consent where required. You can review or withdraw applicable advertising choices through the in-app privacy options.
Children's Privacy
Mortigen is not directed at children under 13, or 16 in certain EU member states. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through an integrated third-party service, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Data Retention and Deletion
Local game data is stored on your device. You can delete it at any time by:
- Clearing the app's data through your device settings
- Uninstalling the app
Leaderboard entries stored in Firebase are retained indefinitely. To request deletion of your leaderboard data, contact us using the details in the Contact section below.
Data Security
Mortigen keeps gameplay progress locally on your device. Leaderboard data is transmitted to and stored in Google Cloud Firestore using encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS). Firebase Anonymous Authentication secures write access so that only authenticated app installations can submit entries. When integrated third-party services such as Google AdMob and, where enabled, Google Play Billing or Apple In-App Purchase transmit data, they also use encrypted transport supported by the platform.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
